Two presentations and more than 30 games in one day

PlayStation turned September 3rd into a particularly charged day by broadcasting a global State of Play followed by State of Play Japan. The official summary brings together more than 30 games among new ads, launch dates, playable demonstrations, expansions and updates. For the reader, that makes it more useful to organize the information by impact and timing than to repeat each trailer in the same order of transmission.

The presentation combined projects that arrive in a matter of days with other ones dated to 2027 and even 2028. That distance matters: a specific date, a demo available today and an announced release within two years do not have the same practical value. In this summary we separate what can be played or bought soon from what must still be considered a long-term promise.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation already has a date and will close the trilogy in 2027

One of the central announcements was Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which will be released on PlayStation 5 on April 8, 2027. Square Enix used the closure of the State of Play to show a wider exploration, with the Highwind as part of the world's journey, as well as sections with chocobos, hooks and new possibilities for navigation through cities and landscapes.

The material also presented the FITS combat system and new synergies. It is important to maintain the distinction between what was shown and what has not yet been tested: a promotional demonstration allows you to know mechanics and structure, but it does not serve to judge stability, final performance or balance. The date, platform and functions taught are data confirmed by PlayStation and Square Enix.

Final Fantasy Resonance can already be tested and progress is preserved

Final Fantasy Resonance was one of the cases in which the announcement had an immediate consequence. Square Enix released a free demo for PS5 which includes the first full chapter and confirmed that the saved game can be moved to the final game. The release is scheduled for October 22, 2026, so the demo also works as a concrete tool to decide before booking.

The trailer also presented the appearance of Sephiroth as a unlockable challenge and showed in more detail the Visions system, the Resonances and the Spers. RIFTVORA analyzes these mechanics in a separate publication, because here the important thing is the news: there is a free playable version, progress is transferable and the release calendar is already defined.

Marvel’s Wolverine enters the final stretch for September

Insomniac showed a new launch trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine and PlayStation holds the global premiere for September 15, 2026. The material features more scenes from Logan alongside Team X members and new allies and enemies. Being less than two weeks away, it is one of the titles of the presentation whose information has immediate effect on the September calendar.

That does not make the trailer a game evaluation. RIFTVORA will continue to separate promotional material from an independent test: the presence of characters, the date and the scenes shown are verifiable, while the quality of the combat, performance, duration or variety of situations require access to the finished product.

Metro 2039, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 and other projects set 2027

Metro 2039 showed PS5 Pro gameplay for the first time and was dated to February 4, 2027. The 4A Games project maintains the survival, exploration, combat and stealth approach in a Moscow-based gamer story. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was also confirmed for PS5 in 2027, although PlayStation did not yet publish a specific release day.

Fate/Extra Record did receive a date: January 28, 2027 on PS5 and PS4. Daba: Land of Water Scar points to spring 2027, while projects such as World Phasebound Control Authority: WPCA are located much further away, in 2028. The difference between an exact date and a wide window should be preserved by following future updates.

PlayStation Plus will add games and classics announced during the show

Sony took advantage of the presentation to announce four PlayStation Plus-related additions. Mycopunk will arrive at the game catalog later this year, while Mega Man X: Command Mission will join Premium Classics in September. Dino Crisis 2 and the original Ratchet & Clank are also scheduled for Premium Classics during 2026.

Availability may vary by region and level of subscription. Therefore, before making a purchase or renewal decision, you should check the PlayStation Plus regional tab when each game appears on the service. A global ad does not replace the country-specific commercial conditions.

Keeper launched the same day and SlashZero offers an extensive demo

Keeper, Double Fine's atmospheric adventure, was one of the surprises with immediate availability: PlayStation indicates it was launched on PS5 on September 3. SlashZero also offers a concrete action for the player, because its temporary demo is already available on PS5 and includes three playable characters, bosses and more than ten hours of content according to official information.

These ads are more useful for those who want to play now than a distant promise. In an event with dozens of names, identifying immediate demos and releases allows you to turn a promotional presentation into a practical list of things that can really be tested without waiting months.

Ghost of Yōtei, Crimson Desert and Saros expand well-known games

Ghost of Yōtei will receive Most Wanted on October 1 as part of its Complete Edition. PlayStation describes it as a survival mode focused on waves, bosses, new weapons, cosmetics and unlockable characters. Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, for its part, is presented as a large expansion scheduled for October 15.

Saros will receive the Zenith update at no additional cost to game owners. Its novelties include Overlord Rush, a mode of consecutive clashes against bosses, Eclipse Layers as a variant of New Game Plus and new accessibility options. They are different extensions, but share one idea: much of the late 2026 calendar does not depend exclusively on new games.

How to read the event without turning each trailer into a promise

The conclusion of the State of Play should not be a list of thirty isolated headlines. There are three levels of certainty: content available now, products with a specific date and projects with large windows. Final Fantasy Resonance and SlashZero demos can be verified immediately; dates such as September 15, Wolverine or April 8, 2027, Final Fantasy VII Revelation are announced commitments; a project dated to 2028 can still change substantially.

RIFTVORA will use that hierarchy to update each news item. If an editor changes a date, platform, or condition, the primary source will have priority over rumors, leaks, or store listings. That method keeps extensive coverage useful weeks after the broadcast ends.

Editorial conclusion of RIFTVORA

The summary orders facts, does not turn each trailer into fulfilled promise. Dates, platforms and demos are more useful data than the duration of a presentation or the volume of ads.

To decide a purchase we recommend waiting for updated official pages and, where appropriate, analysis of final versions. The event serves as an initial map, not a verdict.
